Prevention Tips
Although anal fissures cannot always be prevented, you can reduce your risk of getting one with the following guidelines:- Change diapers frequently in infants
- Keep the anal area dry
- Cleanse the anal area gently
- Avoid constipation by drinking plenty of fluids, eating plenty of fiber, and exercising regularly
- Treat diarrhoea immediately
Watch Out
- Burning and itch sensation
- Discomfort when urinating, frequent urination, or inability to urinate
- Foul-smelling discharge
When to See Doctor
Consult a doctor if you experience- Pain during, and even hours after, a bowel movement
- Constipation
- Blood on toilet tissue or wipes or on the outside of the stool
