Prevention Tips

  • Keep the child very lightly dressed, or take all their clothes off if the room is warm
  • Give lots of cool drinks
  • Avoid aspirin
  • Early diagnosis and treatment
  • Breastfeeding
  • Promotion of healthy, well-balanced diet

  • Sunken eyes
  • Vomiting
  • A stiff neck
  • Problems with breathing
  • Extreme sleepiness

When to See Doctor

Consult your doctor if
  • The seizure lasts more than several minutes
  • Your child is having trouble breathing or is changing colour (blue)
  • Your child looks dehydrated (lack of tears, dry mouth)
