Prevention Tips
- The best way to prevent this infection is to get vaccinated
- Careful handwashing after using the toilet
- Infected people should not handle foods or any other household requirements during the contagious period.
- Only consume food that has just been cooked
- Only drink commercially bottled water, or boiled water if you unsure of local sanitation
- Only eat fruits that you can peel if you are somewhere where sanitation is unreliable
- Only eat raw vegetables if you are sure they have been cleaned/disinfected thoroughly

- Yellowish eyes
- Vomit blood
- Have bloody or tarry clay-colored bowel movements

- Extremely irritable or drowsy

- Bleeds from the nose, mouth, or rectum, or has bloody stools
- Bruises more easily than normal
