There is no known way to prevent bipolar disorder. However, there are ways to reduce the frequency and severity of symptoms and prevent the condition from worsening.- Adopt healthy lifestyle habits which help get good quality sleep
- Become more physically active.
- Develop a hobby
- Try being calm and do relaxation exercises
- Keep a regular routine, such as eating meals at the same time every day and going to sleep at the same time every night
- Address symptoms immediately
- Avoid alcohol and other substances
- Take medications as directed

- Binge drinking or drug use
- Suicidal thoughts or behaviour

Consult a doctor if you experience symptoms like- Feeling hopeless, sad, or empty
- Irritability
- Fatigue or loss of energy
- Physical and mental sluggishness
