Causes

Primary Dysmenorrhoea usually occurs due to the increased activity of the hormone prostaglandin, which is responsible for the uterus contraction during menstruation

Secondary Dysmenorrhea may be caused by a number of conditions, including:

Fibroids (benign tumours within the uterine wall)

Adenomyosis, Endometriosis (gynaecological disorders)

A sexually transmitted infection (STI)

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID )( infection of the fallopian tubes)

An ovarian cyst or tumour

The use of an intrauterine device (IUD), a birth control method
