Prevention Tips
Steps to prevent muscle spasms include:- Take adequate rest and Take less stress
- Proper stretching exercises will help prevent spasms
- Loosen the covers at the foot of your bed to help prevent leg cramps when you are sleeping
- If you tend to get muscle cramps during exercise, make sure you drink enough fluids. Sports drinks may be very helpful
- Some spasms may be caused by poor posture. For example, you may have neck spasms after sitting at a computer terminal for too long or in an awkward position. These spasms may be prevented with better posture
Watch Out
- When neonates between 3 and 28 days shows sign of no sucking and crying along with muscle spasm
- Spasm occurring during pregnancy or within 6 weeks after the conclusion of pregnancy (whether with birth, miscarriage, or abortion)
- Difficulty in breathing and swallowing
When to See Doctor
Consult a doctor if you have- tightness or knot in a muscle
- pin in lower calf muscle
- pain during exercise
- difficulty in breathing and exercise
