Foods to be taken
  • Fresh green vegetables
  • Lean meat and liver
  • Citrus fruits – Vitamin C is needed for vitamin A absorption. Its deficiency makes swollen or injured eyes more difficult to recover
  • Zinc is necessary for good vision, since it helps in the absorption of other components needed for the eyes such as Vitamin A. Milk, cheese; yogurt and red meat are rich in these minerals.
Foods to be avoided
  • High carbohydrate and sugar (they stimulate the production of insulin like growth factor which in turn stimulates excess growth of eyeball during its development)

Home Remedies

  • Check your eyes regularly (Regardless how well you see)
  • Protect your eyes from sun
  • Eat healthy foods
  • Use right glasses and good lighting
