AMTOR 10MG TAB is composed of: ATORVASTATIN (10 MG), AMLODIPINE (5 MG)

Atorvastatin (Lipitor) is a member of the drug class known as statins. It is used for lowering cholesterol. Atorvastatin is a competitive inhibitor of hydroxymethylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase.Atorvastatin acts primarily in the liver.  Decreased hepatic cholesterol levels increases hepatic uptake of cholesterol and reduces plasma cholesterol levels.Atorvastatin is used to treat high cholesterol, and to lower the risk of stroke, heart attack, or other heart complications in people with type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, or other risk factors.
Amlodipine is an Calcium channel blocker that dilates blood vessels and improves blood flow.
Amlodipine is used to treat chest pain.

Precautions for AMTOR 10MG TAB and its Constituents


Caution should be exercised in patients with history of Crohn’s disease, bruising, heart, liver or kidney disease, gastrointestinal disease, blood clotting problems, systemic lupus erythematosus, elderly, during pregnancy, alcohol-dependent patients, and breastfeeding. It may cause dizziness or drowsiness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
Caution should be exercised in patients with history of heart failure or liver disease.
It may causes drowsiness Dont drive while taking this medication.

Symptoms of Overdosage

AMLODIPINE over-dosage can result in: Dizziness, Fainting, Rapid Heart Rate (pulse)

Common Side-Effects

ATORVASTATIN : Polyarthralgia, Urinary Tract Infection, Insomnia, Myalgia, Skin Rash, Hives, Nausea, Loose Motion, Body Muscle Cramps Or Spasms (painful), Cough, Difficulty Swallowing, Dizziness, Rapid Heart Rate (pulse), Fever, Wheezing, Tightness
AMLODIPINE : Edema, Palpitation, Dizziness, Headache, Abdominal Pain, Ankles Swelling, Feet Swelling

Serious Side-Effects

ATORVASTATIN : Eyes Yellow Eyes, Dark Colored (brown) Urine, Abdomen Pain, Nausea, Vomit
AMLODIPINE : Rhinitis, Insomnia, Myalgia, Tinnitus, Vomiting, Dry Mouth, Syncope, Dizziness, Wheezing, Difficulty Breathing

Rare Side-Effects

ATORVASTATIN : Skin Rash, Hives, Body Itching, Face Swelling
AMLODIPINE : Dysuria, Chronic Cough, Xerophthalmia, Black (tar) Colored Stools, Gums Bleeding, Chills, Confusion, Cough, Fever

Food Interactions


Avoid drinking alcohol. It can raise triglyceride levels and may increase your risk of liver damage.Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may interact with atorvastatin and lead to potentially dangerous effects.  
Using amlodipine with multivitamin containing minerals decrease the effects of amlodipine.
