BO-LAX TAB is a Schedule H drug.BO-LAX TAB is composed of: BISACODYL (5 MG)
Bisacodyl is a laxative that stimulates bowel movements.Bisacodyl is used to treat constipation or to empty the bowels before surgery, colonoscopy, x-rays, or other intestinal medical procedure.Bisacodyl relieves occasional constipation and irregularity.Bisacodyl belongs to a group of drugs called stimulant laxatives. It works by increasing activity of the intestines to cause a bowel movement.Bisacodyl is used in the treatment of constipation.Bisacodyl directly increases the motility of the intestine, thereby making the stool soft and easier to pass.

Precautions for BO-LAX TAB and its Constituents
- You should not use bisacodyl if you are allergic to it, or if you have:
- stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting.
- Ask a doctor or pharmacist if it is safe for you to use this medicine if you have other medical conditions, especially:
- a sudden change in bowel habits lasting 2 weeks or longer;
- hemorrhoids or anal fissures (small tears in the skin tissues around your rectum); ulcerative colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, or other intestinal disorder;
- a history of perforation (a hole or tear) of your intestines; an eating disorder (anorexia or bulimia); or (for bisacodyl tablets) if you cannot swallow without chewing.
- Older adults should not use rectal bisacodyl without a doctor’s advice.
- together with Bisacodyl, fiber rich diet containing whole grain bread and cereals, bran, fruits and green leafy vegetables, is essential to maintain healthy bowel function.
- Avoid taking a Bisacodyl for more than 1 week, unless prescribed by the doctor, as it leads to dependency on the laxative action to produce a bowel movement.
- Take Bisacodyl after 2 hours from other medicines, as it may interfere with the absorption of other medicines.
- Bisacodyl should be preferably taken at bedtime because it requires 6 to 8 hours to show impact.
