Propofol slows the activity of your brain and nervous system. Propofol is used to help you relax before and during general anesthesia for surgery or other medical procedures. Propofol is also used to sedate a patient who is under the critical care and needs a mechanical ventilator (breathing machine).

Precautions for CRITIFOL 1% INFUSION and its Constituents
It may decrease mental alertness for some time after use. This effect may be worse if you drink alcohol or take certain medicines. Do not use it in newborns or infants. It may cause serious and sometimes fatal nervous system problems and other side effects. It should not be used to start anesthesia in children younger than 3 years old.
