Losartan keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow.Losartan is used to slow long-term kidney damage in people with type 2 diabetes who also have high blood pressure.Losartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the hormone angiotensin thereby relaxing blood vessels, allowing the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently.
Chlorthalidone is a thiazide diuretic (water pill) that helps prevent your body from absorbing too much salt, which can cause fluid retention.Chlorthalidone treats fluid retention (edema) in people with congestive heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, or kidney disorders, or edema caused by taking steroids or estrogen. Chlorthalidone is also used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It lowers blood pressure and fluid retention in edema by removing the extra water and certain electrolytes from the body.
