Overview
FORTAGESIC 500MG/15MG TAB is a Schedule H drug.FORTAGESIC 500MG/15MG TAB is composed of: PARACETAMOL (500.0 MG), PENTAZOCINE (15.0 MG)
Paracetamol is a pain reliever and a fever reducer. The exact mechanism of action of is not known. Paracetamol is used to treat many conditions such as a headache, muscle aches, arthritis, backache, toothaches, colds, and fevers. It relieves pain in mild arthritis but has no effect on the underlying inflammation and swelling of the joint.
Pentazocine relieves moderate to severe pain. Can be given to women in labor for pain relief.
It works in the brain and nervous system to decrease pain. Pentazocine is an opoid analgesic (pain reliever) which works by blocking transmission of pain signals to the brain to lower pain perception.

Precautions for FORTAGESIC 500MG/15MG TAB and its Constituents
Caution should be exercised in patients with history of asthma, bleeding problems, growths in the nose, heart, kidney or liver disease, liver inflammation, high blood pressure, chickenpox, anxiety, trouble in sleeping, ulcers, stomach problems, stroke, Kawasaki syndrome, any allergy, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Avoid alcohol consumption. It should not be used in children with infections such as flu, chickenpox or viral infections. Avoid
- You should not use pentazocine if you are allergic to it.
- Follow all directions on your prescription label. Pentazocine can slow or stop your breathing. Never use pentazocine in larger amounts, or for longer than prescribed. Tell your doctor if the medicine seems to stop working as well in relieving your pain.

Do not give yourself pentazocine if you do not understand how to use the injection and properly dispose of needles, IV tubing, and other items used.
- Pentazocine is usually given only for a short time.
- Do not stop using pentazocine suddenly after long-term use, or you could have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.
- Do not use extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
- Pentazocine may impair your thinking or reactions. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how pentazocine will affect you. Dizziness or severe drowsiness can cause falls or other accidents.
- Misuse of Narcotic medicine can cause addiction,overdose or death.especially in a child or other person using the medicine without a prescription.
