KALNASE NASAL SPRAY is a Schedule H drug.KALNASE NASAL SPRAY is composed of: CALCITONIN (200.0 IU)
Calcitonin is a man-made form of a hormone that occurs naturally in the thyroid gland.Calcitonin nasal is used to treat osteoporosis in women who have been in menopause for at least 5 years.
Calcitonin Salmon is used in the treatment of post menopausal osteoporosis and high calcium levels in the blood.Calcitonin salmon is a calcitonin receptor agonist. It acts by suppressing the activity of osteoclasts, cells that cause destruction of bone, thereby strengthening the bones and minimizing the risk of fractures.

Precautions for KALNASE NASAL SPRAY and its Constituents
- You should not use this medicine if you are allergic to salmon calcitonin.
- Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets.
- Your doctor may occasionally change your dose. Use the medicine exactly as directed.
- Calcitonin injection is not a cure for Paget’s disease.
- You may have a relapse, especially if your body forms antibodies and you become immune to calcitonin.
- Do not use two doses at one time.If you have osteoporosis, avoid smoking, or try to quit.Smoking can reduce your bone mineral density, making fractures more likely.Avoid using calcitonin in condition such as low levels of calcium in blood (hypocalcemia).
- Calcitonin is not recommended in children under 18 years of age.
- Do not drive or use any tools or machines, if you feel dizzy, tired, have a headache or get disturbed vision after taking calcitonin.
- Long term treatment with calcitonin for osteoporosis and osteoarthritis have shown an increase in the risk of cancer in clinical trials.
- Calcitonin is recommended to be taken at bedtime to reduce the side effects like urge to vomit (nausea) and vomiting that are generally experienced at the beginning of the treatment.
