LCZ-COLD TAB is a Schedule H drug.

LCZ-COLD TAB is composed of: PARACETAMOL (500.0 MG), CAFFEINE (30.0 MG), DIPHENHYDRAMINE (25.0 MG), PHENYLEPHRINE (5.0 MG)

Paracetamol is a pain reliever and a fever reducer. The exact mechanism of action of is not known. Paracetamol is used to treat many conditions such as a headache, muscle aches, arthritis, backache, toothaches, colds, and fevers. It relieves pain in mild arthritis but has no effect on the underlying inflammation and swelling of the joint.

Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant. It works by stimulating the brain. Caffeine is found naturally in foods and beverages such as coffee, tea, colas, energy and chocolate. Botanical sources of caffeine include kola nuts, guarana, and yerba mate. Caffeine is also available in prescription and non-prescription medications. Caffeine is used to restore mental alertness or wakefulness during fatigue or drowsiness. Caffeine is also found in some headache and migraine medications, in certain dietary supplements used for weight loss, and in many popular energy drinks.

Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine that reduces the effects of natural chemical histamine in the body. Histamine can produce symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose. Diphenhydramine is used to treat sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, hives, skin rash, itching, and other cold or allergy symptoms. Diphenhydramine is also used to treat motion sickness, to induce sleep, and to treat certain symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.

Phenylephrine is a decongestant that shrinks blood vessels in the nasal passages. Dilated blood vessels can cause nasal congestion (stuffy nose). Phenylephrine is used to treat nasal and sinus congestion or congestion of the tubes that drain fluid from your inner ears called the eustachian (yoo-STAY-shun) tubes.

Precautions for LCZ-COLD TAB and its Constituents


Caution should be exercised in patients with history of asthma, bleeding problems, growths in the nose, heart, kidney or liver disease, liver inflammation, high blood pressure, chickenpox, anxiety, trouble in sleeping, ulcers, stomach problems, stroke, Kawasaki syndrome, any allergy, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Avoid alcohol consumption. It should not be used in children with infections such as flu, chickenpox or viral infections. Avoid large amount of caffeinated beverages while taking this medication. It may reduce platelet counts; avoid injury or bruising.
While taking this medication avoid drinking excess amount of caffeine containing drinks.  Though caffeine may increase alertness, it can cause dizziness. Hence avoid doing anything that requires concentration and can cause disability or death in case of an accident, e.g. driving a car or operating machinery. It is not to be used as a substitute for sleep. Caution should be exercised in patients with history of heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, stomach problems (peptic ulcer), seizures, during pregnancy and breast feeding.
Caution should be exercised in patients with history of asthma, lung disease, increased eye pressure, ulcer, difficulty in urinating, enlarged prostate, heart disease, high blood pressure, seizures, overactive thyroid, any allergy, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It may cause dizziness or drowsiness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication. Avoid alcohol consumption. if it is topical one avoid contact with eyes and mouth.
Do not give phenylephrine containing products to children younger than 4 years of age. It may cause serious side effects or cause of death in children. Do not use this medication for longer duration, it may cause rebound congestion in prolonged or excessive use of nasal or eye drops. Caution should be exercised in patients with history of severe increase in thyroid hormone, severe heart disease, diabetes, prostate enlargement, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

PARACETAMOL over-dosage can result in: Loss Of Appetite, Nausea, Vomit, Abdomen Pain, Weakness (generalized), Upper Abdomen Pain, Dark Colored (brown) Urine, Eyes Yellow Eyes
CAFFEINE over-dosage can result in: Anxiety, Confusion, Frequent Urination, Irregular Heartbeat, Arms Muscle Twitching (painless), Ringing In Ears, Seizures (uncontrollable Jerking Of Limbs), Abdomen Pain, Difficulty Sleeping
DIPHENHYDRAMINE over-dosage can result in: Difficulty Breathing, Drowsiness, Seizures (uncontrollable Jerking Of Limbs), Eyes Enlarged (dilated) Pupils, Restless Or Irritability, Hallucinations
