Precautions for LEUNASE 5000IU INJ and its Constituents
- Asparaginase can also make you flush, breathe faster, or have a fruit-like breath. This is normal and not a cause for concern.
- Do not receive a live vaccine (eg, measles, mumps) while you are taking asparaginase.
- Do not take this drug if you are allergic to asparaginase or any of its ingredients.
- Seek immediate medical attention if you feel confused, drowsy, have excessive thirst or observe an increased frequency or volume of urination.
- If you are a patient with diabetes, monitor your blood sugar levels closely.
- Ensure that you undergo periodic laboratory tests to monitor response to the therapy and any side effects.
- Asparaginase Erwinia chrysanthemi is injected into a muscle.
- Some people develop a life-threatening allergic reaction to asparaginase.
- You will need to receive this medicine in a hospital or clinic setting to quickly treat any serious side effects that occur.
- This medicine can pass into body fluids (urine, feces, vomit). For at least 48 hours after you receive a dose, avoid allowing your body fluids to come into contact with your hands or other surfaces.
- Caregivers should wear rubber gloves while cleaning up a patient’s body fluids, handling contaminated trash or laundry or changing diapers.
