Norfloxacin is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing the bacteria. Norfloxacin is used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is also used in infections of the urinary tract, tonsils, sinus, nose, throat, female genital organ, skin and soft tissues, windpipe, and lungs (pneumonia).

Using caffeine together with norfloxacin may increase the effects of caffeine. Norfloxacin and multivitamin with minerals should not be taken orally at the same time. Products that contain magnesium, aluminum, calcium, iron, and/or other minerals may interfere with the absorption of norfloxacin into the bloodstream and reduce its effectiveness.
