Norfloxacin is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing the bacteria. Norfloxacin is used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is also used in infections of the urinary tract, tonsils, sinus, nose, throat, female genital organ, skin and soft tissues, windpipe, and lungs (pneumonia).

Precautions



Caution should be exercised in patients with history of stomach infection, nerve problems, myasthenia gravis, brain tumor or injury, Alzheimer disease, seizures, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6PD) deficiency, any allergy, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or tiredness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication. Avoid exposure to sunlight. Avoid excess dosage.

NORFLOXACIN : Face Swelling, Body Itching, Dizziness, Difficulty Breathing

Food Interactions



Using caffeine together with norfloxacin may increase the effects of caffeine. Norfloxacin and multivitamin with minerals should not be taken orally at the same time. Products that contain magnesium, aluminum, calcium, iron, and/or other minerals may interfere with the absorption of norfloxacin into the bloodstream and reduce its effectiveness. Taking norfloxacin with food or products that contain minerals like calcium, iron, magnesium and zinc can interfere with its absorption and reduce its levels in the blood and urinary tract.

NORFLOXACIN can interfere with: Myasthenia Gravis, Magnesium Deficiency, Hypokalemia, Heart Arrhythmias, Congestive Heart Disease, Supraspinatus Tendonitis, Colitis, Gastroenteritis, Diarrhoea, Vomiting, Diabetes Mellitus, Acute Renal Failure
