Precautions for PLERMIN OINT and its Constituents
- Inform your doctor before using the medicine if you are suffering from any type of cancer or had a history of cancer or is suffering from poor blood supply to limbs.
- Do not use any other creams, gels, or ointments at the site of the wound and do not use in your eyes, nose, or mouth.
- Do not stop using becaplermin without your doctor’s advice. It may take several weeks for becaplermin to work.
- Becaplermin should be used with extreme caution in children less than 16 years of age. Tell your doctor if you are or planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.
- You should not use this medication if you are allergic to becaplermin or parabens, or if you have skin cancer affecting your feet.
- Do not apply becaplermin over any wound or surgical incision that has been closed with stitches, staples, or surgical tape.
- You will need to recalculate your dose about every week or two as the size of your ulcer changes. Follow your doctor’s instructions.
- Do not apply becaplermin gel more than once per day and never use more than your prescribed dose. Using more of the medication will not make it work faster and may cause unwanted side effects.
- Use exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
