POTENTOX AMP is a Schedule H antibiotic.

POTENTOX AMP is composed of: CEFEPIME (500 MG), AMIKACIN (125 MG)

Cefepime is a cephalosporin (SEF a low spor in) antibiotic. It works by fighting bacteria in your body. Cefepime injection is used to treat many kinds of bacterial infections including severe or life-threatening forms.

Amikacin is used to treat infections caused by bacteria such as meningitis and infections of Blood, Skin, Bone, Joints and urinary tract.

How Do I Take It?

POTENTOX AMP is generally taken Before Food.

Precautions for POTENTOX AMP and its Constituents

Caution should be exercised in patients with history of penicillin or cephalosporin allergy, gastro intestinal disease, especially colitis; lactation, pregnancy, seizures. It may decrease prothrombin activity; monitor prothrombin time in patients with poor nutritional state, kidney or liver impairment and those on prolonged treatment. Prolonged treatment may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, resulting in superinfection. Consider the possibility of Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea in patients who present with diarrhea after treatment. Patient may develop with increased risk of neurotoxicity.
Caution should be exercised in the patients with history of kisney disease, vertigo, hearing loss or ringing in ears, myasthenia gravis and parkinson’s disease.
Monitor renal function before and after taking treatment.

Symptoms of Overdosage

CEFEPIME over-dosage can result in: Difficulty Breathing, Seizures (uncontrollable Jerking Of Limbs)
AMIKACIN over-dosage can result in: Loss Of Balance, Slow Or Weak Urine Stream

Common Side-Effects

CEFEPIME : Abdomen Muscle Cramps Or Spasms (painful), Gums Bleeding, Confusion, Dark Colored (brown) Urine, Fever, Chills, Difficulty Breathing, Loss Of Appetite, Nausea, Vomit, Left Foot Swelling, Right Foot Swelling
AMIKACIN : Nephropathy, Ear Infection, Middle Ear, Loss Of Balance, Agitation, Hearing Loss, Depressed Mood, Pale Skin, Chills

Serious Side-Effects

AMIKACIN : Acute Kidney Failure, Nausea, Vomit

Rare Side-Effects

CEFEPIME : Loose Motion, Bloody Or Red Colored Stools
AMIKACIN : Tinnitus, Febrile Convulsions, Paralysis, Pruritus, Head Headache
