Overview
TUSSDEX SYP is a Schedule H drug.TUSSDEX SYP is composed of: DEXTROMETHORPHAN HYDROBROMIDE ( ), PROMETHAZINE ( )
Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. It affects the signals in the brain that trigger cough reflex. Dextromethorphan is used to treat a cough. Dextromethorphan will not treat a cough that is caused by smoking, asthma, or emphysema. Do not use it if you are using or have used an MAO inhibitor within the past 14 days of the treatment.
Promethazine is in a group of drugs called phenothiazines. It works by changing the actions of chemicals in your brain. Promethazine also acts as an antihistamine. It blocks the effects of the naturally occurring chemical histamine in your body.Promethazine can be used for year-round or seasonal allergies. It also works directly on several areas of the brain to prevent nausea/vomiting and help you feel more relaxed.control nausea and vomiting during and after surgery

Precautions for TUSSDEX SYP and its Constituents
- Always ask a doctor before giving a cough or cold medicine to a child. Death can occur from the misuse of cough and cold medicines in very young children.
- Do not use any other over-the-counter cough, cold, or allergy medication without first asking your doctor or pharmacist.
- Dextromethorphan may be harmful to an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment.
- Dextromethorphan may pass into breast milk and could harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
- Avoid drinking alcohol. It can increase some of the side effects of dextromethorphan. This medication can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert.
- Avoid taking diet pills, caffeine pills, or other stimulants (such as ADHD medications) without your doctor’s advice.
- You should not take this medicine if you are allergic to promethazine or to similar medicines such as chlorpromazine, fluphenazine, mesoridazine, perphenazine, prochlorperazine, thioridazine, or trifluperazine.
- Take promethazine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all directions on your prescription label.
- Promethazine is often taken at bedtime or before meals. For motion sickness, promethazine is usually started within 1 hour before traveling.
- Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.This medicine may impair your thinking or reactions.
- Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be alert.
- Avoid getting up too fast from a sitting or lying position, or you may feel dizzy. Get up slowly and steady yourself to prevent a fall.
- Avoid exposure to sunlight or tanning beds. Promethazine can make you sunburn more easily. Wear protective clothing and use sunscreen

DEXTROMETHORPHAN HYDROBROMIDE over-dosage can result in: Eyes Blurred Vision, Confusion, Difficulty Urinating, Drowsiness, Dizziness, Nausea, Vomit, Difficulty Breathing, Restless Or Irritability, NervousnessPROMETHAZINE over-dosage can result in: Loss Of Coordination, Drowsiness, Fainting, Eyes Enlarged (dilated) Pupils, Slow Or Irregular Breathing, Dry Mouth, Restless Or Irritability, Loss Of Appetite, Difficulty Sleeping, Difficulty Concentrating
