ZOSTAMAX 10MG/10MG TAB is a Schedule H drug.

ZOSTAMAX 10MG/10MG TAB is composed of: EZETIMIBE (10.0 MG), SIMVASTATIN (10.0 MG)

Ezetimibe reduces the amount of cholesterol absorbed by the body. Ezetimibe is used to treat high cholesterol.

Simvastatin is in a group of drugs called HMG CoA reductase inhibitors, or "statins." It reduces levels of "bad" cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood, while increasing levels of "good" cholesterol,decreases the risk of heart disease and helps prevent strokes and heart attacks.Simvastatin is used to lower cholesterol and triglycerides (types of fat) in the blood.
It works better if taken at night.

Precautions

You should not take ezetimibe with a statin medication if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: liver disease.

• Never take simvastatin in larger amounts, or for longer than recommended by your doctor.
• Do not use if you are pregnant.
• You should not take this medicine if you are allergic to simvastatin.
• Take simvastatin exactly as prescribed.
• Taking too much of this medication may cause serious or life-threatening side effects.
• Simvastatin is usually taken at bedtime or with an evening meal.
• If you take simvastatin more than once daily, take it with meals.
• While using simvastatin, you may need frequent blood tests.It decreases the risk of heart disease and helps prevent strokes and heart attacks.
• It should be taken in addition to regular exercise and low-fat diet to lower levels of fat in the blood.
