Overview

MICAFUNGIN is a Schedule H drug.
Micafungin is an antifungal medication that fights infections caused by fungus.Micafungin is used to treat infections caused by the Candida fungus. Micafungin is also used to prevent Candida fungal infections in stem cell transplant patients. Micafungin kills fungus by preventing them from making their protective covering.

Precautions

  • Follow all directions on your medicine label and package.
  • You should not use this medication if you are allergic to micafungin or similar medicines.
  • Micafungin is usually given once daily for up to several weeks. Follow all directions on your prescription label.
  • Do not use this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
  • Do not self-inject this medicine if you do not understand how to give the injection and properly dispose of used needles, IV tubing, and other items used to inject the medicine.
  • Do not shake the medication bottle or you may ruin the medicine.
  • Do not use if the medicine has changed colors or has particles in it.
  • Micafungin must be mixed with a liquid (diluent) before using it.Each single-use vial (bottle) of this medicine is for one use only. Avoid contact with people who have infections.
  • Monitor liver function, kidney function, and complete blood cell counts regularly while taking this medication.
  • It may cause dizziness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.

MICAFUNGIN : Diarrhoea, Seizure, Skin Rash, Hypocalcemia, Nausea, Vomit, Cough, Fever, Lower Back Pain, Pale Skin, Mouth Soreness, Fatigue (tiredness), Chest Pain, Mood Swings, Drowsiness, Hands Numbness, Feet Numbness, Head Headache, Abdomen Pain, Rapid Heart Rate (pulse)

Serious Side-Effects

MICAFUNGIN : Breathlessness, Anxiety, Depression, Night Terrors, Black (tar) Colored Stools, Decreased Urination, Irregular Heartbeat, Increased Thirst, Loss Of Appetite, Pain With Urination, Face Swelling, Fingers Swelling, Shortness Of Breath, Weight Gain, Difficulty Breathing, Slurred Speech
