Flucytosine is an antifungal medication that fights infections caused by fungus. Flucytosine is used to treat serious fungal infections of the blood, lungs, heart, central nervous system, and urinary tract. Flucytosine is sometimes given with another medicine called amphotericin B.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with history of bone marrow or blood problems, kidney impairment, who are taking other medications, any allergy, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It may cause dizziness or drowsiness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication. It may reduce platelet counts; avoid injury or bruising. Monitor complete blood cell counts, kidney and liver function tests, and blood electrolyte levels regularly while taking this medication.Avoid exposure to sunlight. Take each dose with a full glass (8 ounces) of water.

FLUCYTOSINE over-dosage can result in: Nausea, Vomit, Loose Motion, Upper Abdomen Pain, Abdomen Bleeding
