Zalcitabine is a nucleoside analog reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NARTI), prescribed for HIV infection. It works by blocking the growth of HIV.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with history of nervous disease, heart or liver disease, hepatitis B, kidney problems, diabetes, AIDS, high cholesterol, inflammation of the pancreas, who are taking other medications, any allergy, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It dose not stop the spread of infection to others avoid sexual contact with others.

ZALCITABINE : Diarrhoea, Depression, Fatigue (tiredness), Head Headache, Convulsions, Abdomen Pain, Vomit, Nausea, Constipation

Rare Side-Effects

ZALCITABINE : Skin Rash, Hives, Fever, Arms Joint Pain, Body Itching

ZALCITABINE can interfere with: Congestive Heart Disease, Cardiomyopathy, Bone Marrow Suppression, Alcoholism, Acute Liver Failure, Hyperlipidemia, Pancreatitis, Peripheral Neuropathy, Acute Renal Failure
