CEFOXITIN is a Schedule H1 drug.Cefoxitin is a cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by fighting bacteria in your body. Cefoxitin is used to treat many kinds of bacterial infections, Cefoxitin is a prescription medication used to treat bacterial infections, including lung, urinary tract, abdomen, blood, skin, bone, joint, gynecological infections, and including severe or life-threatening forms. Cefoxitin is also used to prevent infection in people having certain types of surgery.

How Do I Take It?

- Before using cefoxitin, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it or to other cephalosporins or to penicillin’s or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems.
- Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of kidney disease, liver disease, stomach/intestinal diseases (e.g., colitis).
- Cefoxitin may cause live bacterial vaccines (such as typhoid vaccine) to not work as well. Do not have any immunizations/vaccinations while using this medication.
- Kidney function declines as you grow older. This medication is removed by the kidneys. Therefore, elderly people may be at greater risk for side effects while using this drug.
