It works by stopping the growth of this resistant bacteria.This antibiotic works in the intestines and is not absorbed by your body. It should only be used to treat this type of intestinal bacterial infection. It will not work for other types of infections, including viral infections. Unnecessary use or misuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.

- Caution should be exercised in patients with history of infection, any allergy, who are taking other medications, children, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- You should not use fidaxomicin if you are allergic to it.
- Fidaxomicin should not be used to treat infections that are not related to Clostridium difficile.
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
- Do not take in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
- Follow the directions on your prescription label.Fidaxomicin is usually taken 2 times each day for 10 days. Follow your doctor’s instructions.
- You may take fidaxomicin with or without food.
