Overview
DAPTOMYCIN is an Over-the-counter (OTC) drug.Daptomycin is an antibiotic that fights bacteria in the body. Daptomycin is used to treat bacterial infections of the skin and underlying tissues, and infections that have entered the bloodstream. Daptomycin is used in cases of complicated infections, including MRSA or "super bug" infections. MRSA stands for methicillin-resistant aureus.Staphylococcus. This medication is not recommended for use in children younger than 12 months due to possible risk of serious side effects.

How Do I Take It?

- Each single-use vial (bottle) of this medicine is for one use only. Throw away after one use, even if there is still some medicine left in it after injecting your dose.
- Before using daptomycin, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
- Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of kidney disease, muscle problems (such as myopathy).
- This drug may make you dizzy. Alcohol can make you more dizzy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs alertness until you can do it safely. Limit alcoholic beverages.
- Daptomycin may cause live bacterial vaccines (such as typhoid vaccine) to not work as well. Do not have any immunizations/vaccinations while using this medication unless your doctor tells you to.
- Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products).
