Overview

CABAZITAXEL is an Over-the-counter (OTC) drug.
Cabazitaxel is a prescription medication used to treat prostate cancer in adults. Cabazitaxel belongs to a group of drugs called microtubule inhibitors, which slow and stop the growth of cancer cells. Avoid drinking grapefruit juice while taking cabazitaxel. Your doctor may prescribe medications to prevent or treat vomiting and diarrhea as well as prednisone.

Precautions

  • Before receiving cabazitaxel, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it or to polysorbate 80 or if you have any other allergies.
  • Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of liver disease, lung disease, blood/bone marrow disorders, stomach/abdominal problems, recent/current infections, radiation treatment.
  • Do not have immunizations/vaccinations without the consent of your doctor. Avoid contact with people who have recently received live vaccines (such as flu vaccine inhaled through the nose).
  • To lower the chance of getting cut, bruised, or injured, use caution with sharp objects like razors and nail cutters, and avoid activities such as contact sports.
  • Older adults may be at greater risk for side effects (such as low number of white blood cells, fever, dizziness, bladder infections, dehydration/loss of too much body water) while using this drug.
  • This medication should not be used in women, especially during pregnancy or breast-feeding. It may harm an unborn or breast-feeding baby. Men using this medication should ask about reliable forms of birth control while using this medication and for 3 months after stopping treatment.

CABAZITAXEL : Black (tar) Colored Stools, Gums Bleeding, Face Swelling, Bloody Or Red Colored Stools, Body Burning Sensation, Sudden Numbness Or Weakness On One Side Of Body, Chest Pain, Chills, Cough, Difficulty Breathing, Pain During Erection, Fever, Lower Back Pain, Weight Gain, Throat Soreness, Arms Weakness
