Overview
BROMOCRIPTINE is a Schedule H drug.Bromocriptine is a medication used to treat Type 2 Diabetes melitus, Acromegaly, Hyperprolactinemia and Parkinson’s disease. It belongs to the class of drugs known as Dopamine receptor agonists.
It treats hyper prolactinemia by decreasing the amount of Prolactin in the body.
It treats Acromegaly by decreasing the amount of growth harmone in the body.
It treats Parkinson’s disease by acting like Dopamine that is affecting the brain processes that control movement.
Common side effects of Bromocriptine includes Nausea, Headache, Drowsiness and Dizziness.

Precautions
Caution should be exercised in the patients with the history of Heart disease, Raynaud’s syndrome, Mental illness, Low blood pressure and kidney or liver disease.It may cause dizziness, Nausea, Sweating and fainting when you get up too quickly from lying position. To avoid this problem get up slowly from bed.
Use proper contraception methods to prevent pregnancy while taking this medication.
It can decrease blood circulation in the fingers and toes especially during exposure of cold. Keep hands and feet warm during cold weather.
