Overview
TEMAZEPAM is a Schedule H drug.This medication is used to treat a certain sleep problem (insomnia). It may help you fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer, and lessen how often you wake up during the night, so you can get a better night’s rest. Temazepam belongs to a class of drugs called sedative-hypnotics. It acts on your brain to produce a calming effect. Use of this medication is usually limited to short treatment periods of 1 to 2 weeks or less. If your insomnia continues for a longer time, talk to your doctor to see if you need other treatment.

How Do I Take It?

- Temazepam may be habit-forming. Never share this medicine with another person, especially someone with a history of drug abuse or addiction. Keep the medication in a place where others cannot get to it.
- Temazepam can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. You should not breast-feed while using this medicine.
- Do not use temazepam if you are pregnant or may become pregnant. This medicine can cause birth defects. Your baby could also become dependent on the drug. This can cause life-threatening withdrawal symptoms in the baby after it is born. Babies born dependent on habit-forming medicine may need medical treatment for several weeks.
- Before taking temazepam, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it or to diazepam or oxazepam or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems.
- Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of kidney disease, liver disease, lung/breathing problems, mental/mood problems (such as depression, thoughts of suicide), personal or family history of a substance use disorder, personal or family history of sleepwalking, a certain muscle disease.
- Since this drug makes you drowsy, do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs alertness until you can do it safely. Alcohol or marijuana can make you more drowsy. Avoid alcoholic beverages.
- It may cause drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, or difficulty in coordination, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
