Overview
OCTREOTIDE is a Schedule H drug.Octreotide is a man-made protein that is similar to a hormone in the body called somatostatin. Octreotide lowers many substances in the body such as insulin and glucagon (involved in regulating blood sugar), growth hormone, and chemicals that affect digestion.a substance normally found in the human body which inhibits the effects of certain hormones such as growth hormone. It also lowers the bleeding from the food pipe by constricting (narrowing) the blood vessels.

How Do I Take It?
Route of Administration: IV (Intravenous),Precautions
- You should not use octreotide if you are allergic to it.
- Follow all directions on your prescription label.
- Do not use this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
- Do not use octreotide if it has changed colors or has particles in it.
- Use a different place each time you give an injection. Do not inject into the same place two times in a row.
- While using octreotide, you may need frequent medical tests.
- Each single-use ampule is for one use only. Throw away after one use, even if there is still some medicine left in it after injecting your dose.
- Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs alertness until you can do it safely.
- Caution is advised when using this drug in children.Inform your doctor if you are taking a medicine to control your blood pressure or if you are a patient with diabetes.
- If you are a woman of child bearing age, effective contraceptive method should be adopted during treatment with octreotide.
- Tell your doctor if you are or planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.
